Heart transplant journey

My name is Rashawnda and I’m just a girl wanting the best for her and her family. My baby brother is the toughest man I know. He is currently 19 years old and has been diagnosed with stage four congestive heart failure. I’m his oldest sister and he is the light of our small but mighty strong family of six. You see I’ve always had to be the voice and reason behind my mother because my father was never a real father. He left my mom and my siblings to go create another family. He hurt every one of us in different ways including my brother. My brother was told just two days ago that his heart is sick and not pumping enough blood and oxygen throughout his body. There are four stages and right now we are at the most extreme level where the doctors are trying to get my brother’s heart pressure stable. The next steps are for us to get his BMI to a safe level to possibly get a pump put into his heart to help him live a longer life until he’s able to possibly get a donor's heart. My brother has been nothing but hard-working and trying to do right in life by working, but his place of work let him go and he fell into a deep depression which resulted him avoiding seeking medical help. We reached out to our dad just to see if he cared enough and was met with a hostile frustrated man who didn’t want to be bothered with us desperately asking him for his insurance card to make sure my brother could get the help he needed at the hospital. I’m staying as strong as I can for my family and want my brother to be by my side through this crazy life. I have started this GoFundMe in hopes that we can have some financial help through this uphill battle we are heading up. My brother is currently in the ICU at Maine Medical Center being monitored and tested to make sure his heart doesn’t act up, but we may have to transfer to Boston soon I will keep everyone posted and updated. But these medical bills and travel expenses add up quickly. My mom has been a superwoman taking care of our grandmother and being strong for my brother. She is on one income and I know any little donation will go a long way in this next journey together as a family.
