Japan Discovery & Service Trip
Hello! My name is Madeleine, and my dream is to travel internationally and to start with a service project in Japan with a highly rated teen travel group.
UPDATE: I raised enough to register for the trip! I am beyond excited and forever grateful! Now I have to get my plane tickets and there is an added fee of $600 for a bus and train pass. You all are amazingly generous and I am so incredibly blessed to be able to go on this trip. THANK YOU!!
Back to the original...
I am 17, and I have my own business and work as a server at a local restaurant, but I could use some help with the plane tickets. To travel with the other teens who are going on the trip, the ticket is almost $2000. The trip itself is $6000 in order to provide an excellent experience over 17 days with other teens and leaders that is safe and educational.
It is important for me to be able to learn from different cultures and expand my world view.
On this trip, I will be able to participate in meaningful community service in Tohno – an area devastated by the 2011 Tsunami. As a group, we will be part of a cultural exchange program with local teens, spend a day in the rice fields, and engage with the people who call Tohno home.
In addition, I will be able to visit Hiroshima and spend time with the survivors to gain a new perspective.
Of course, there will also be time to explore museums, temples, and other places of interest and enjoy sushi, which is my favorite!
If I go to Japan this summer, I know it will be a fantastic experience I will treasure for my entire life. There is nothing quite like being able to personally experience another culture. I believe everyone should be able to have the opportunity to travel and see life from another perspective. This trip to Japan will encourage me to step outside of my comfort zone and grow as a global citizen.
Thank you so much for considering supporting me on this life-changing trip.
