Hi all,
This is a fundraiser to get chest surgery (top surgery) privately. I have tried to do this under the NHS system but I’ve currently been waiting for about 4 years. I was supposed to be referred for top surgery in May 2020, which would have then given me a 6-12 month wait (early 2021). Now because of COVID everything has been paused and the new timeline is more like early 2022. This is so far away that I don't foresee the NHS to have anything like the funding the current have in gender services (which is already drastically underfunded), and so I imagine the wait will be even longer than this.
If I go privately I can get surgery as early as the end of this year.
I don’t want to beg you for this money and make myself have to convince you by telling you how bad everything is. As a disabled trans person I know that I need this and I know that the stress of the unknown is actively making me ill and in constant physical pain right now as well as unbearable mental pain.
The initial consultation is £165 and the costs for the surgery, including hospital stay and any revisions I need is £7690.
I will also not be paid for the time I am off recovering (from one of my jobs, as well as freelance work) so any extra money will be going towards sustaining myself in the recovery period.
