My journey on becoming a commercial pilot
Donation protected
Since I first tasted flying in the Air Cadets, with the scholarships I was awarded, I have known that my goal in life was to become a commercial pilot. It's been a long journey to be accepted into pilot training school at CAE Oxford.

On leaving secondary school I joined BA as Cabin Crew, a first step in the aviation industry.

During my years working as Cabin Crew I attended over five interviews and assessments. When I eventually got given the opportunity to start the training at flying school, I failed my class one medical. I was told by CAA that it was almost impossible to regain my left lazy-eye vision to the required standard. I was heartbroken to be told I would never achieve my childhood dream. Determined not to give up I went to the eye hospital in London which led to me contacting a professor in Glasgow where I went for treatment. It took me two years, but I finally achieved the standard of eye sight required.
I was so happy and I knew there was nothing that could stop me.

After gaining the class one medical, I focussed on preparing for airline partnered training program applications. Having completed various stages of assessment, I received good news and was offered a course to start training at CAE and potentially become a pilot with one of the leading airlines in Europe! I was so excited. However when I was given the course fee details, after going to banks and calculating all possible loans and combing them with my savings I am still £50,000 short of the £126,000 I need.
If I raise £20,000 I will be able to achieve my pilots licence and if I raise £50,000 I will able to do the final section of the course, the airline 'type rating,' and have a guaranteed job to go to on graduation. If I don't accept my place it will be lost as I am not able to defer it. Every donation no matter how small will contribute towards my goal.
I'll keep everyone posted with my progress. I hope by reading my story at least I've motivated others, if you don't give up and be determined, there is nothing there to stop you! Thank you for reading and I hope you have a great day wherever you are!
