John William Gummelt III
July 21, 1997 - February 08, 2022
On Tuesday, 02-08-2022, our beloved son and brother to Nadia, died at the young age of 24. We are devastated, confused, hurt, angry, and sad.
John was compassionate to others and often organized food drives and clothing drives for homeless people living on the streets in Houston. On several occasions, having run out of clothing for the homeless, he would take off the shoes, shirt, or jacket he was wearing to give to a homeless person.
John was competitive in sports and loved playing club and school soccer throughout his elementary, middle school, and high school years. He also enjoyed writing codes and working on and repairing laptops and desktop computers. This ability was self-taught and he really enjoyed helping friends with computer issues.
As a young adult John became very interested in music. He would write the lyrics, compose and record the music, and self-produce his songs to Spotify, Instagram, and other venues. He had thousands of followers from Germany, Russia, Brazil and several other countries. He has also been modeling for high fashion designers for a few years.
His psychiatrist and the meds he prescribed, support from family & friends, and all that we tried to do to get him help were not enough. Sadly, he could not win this battle.
Parents usually do not end up living longer than their children. We never expected this and had not saved for or planned on holding a funeral for our son. This expense is another shock that we were not prepared for! Any donation that you can make, no matter the amount, to help with the cost of the funeral and burial, is greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
the Gummelt family
