Help the Santana family
Donation protected
I am reaching out to try and get help for my dear cousin, Katrina Santana, and her family. Early Sunday morning, the family was terrified to awaken to their home on fire. Kat woke up first alarming her husband, Steve Santana. Of course their parent instincts kicked in and the first thing they did was ensure their two daughters, Bella and Alisha, made it out. Steve and the girls thankfully made it out with only minor injuries, although very shaken. Kat was last to make it out, having to dive through waist high flames, only moments before their home was completely engulfed, consuming everything inside. She was able to rescue two of their fur babies, but unfortunately three of their cats did not make it along with their sweet snake. Kat was airlifted to the Augusta burn unit ICU. She will most likely be hospitalized for a few weeks, requiring multiple surgeries, then will need continuous care after wards. Anyone who knows my cousin knows she’s the kind of person who will give you the shirt off her back if you ask, but is always reluctant to ask for help. So it’s not lightly that we ask this, but we are desperately pleading now. Katrina sadly does not have medical insurance and other than the hospital hopefully working out a payment plan, she will be paying this fully out of pocket. Redcross has reached out and initially helped with giving Steve a prepaid visa for a hotel(he has now been moved to specialized housing) and said they can send information about helping them get clothes and possibly referring them to a housing agency later down the road. But they lost everything, and while it’s of course appreciated it’s barely a band-aid to the gaping hole this tragedy has caused. Please if you can spare anything it is greatly appreciated, thank you so much for sparing your time and have a blessed day.
