I have had the great pleasure of being introduced to the San Diego Center for Children. https://www.centerforchildren.org/ I personally connect with this community in so many ways. The ability to embrace, support, live a better life and utilize the tools to design a better way to live. 

We have a chance to help shape those lives. The San Diego campus has a grave yard of bikes (about 75). Right now they are rusted, torn, broken, unsafe, flat and useless (not unlike how many of these children feel). We have the opportunity to provide positive activity, accountability, instill skills, responsibility, healthy activity and overall have fun on bikes! Think about the impact that cycling has had on your life.  It truly was a life saving outlet for me.

In order to get these bikes safe and rolling we need help! I am looking for gear donations (extra flat pedals, cruiser/kids seats, grips, floor pumps, tubes, tires, etc.) as well as larger company donations (Helmets, children's seats, safety pads, pedals, chains, lube).

I will be purchasing the gear to get this project going. Once the bikes are running and we have safety gear, we will initiate maintenance clinics (age appropriate), teach them how to store and take care of their gear (so they stay in working order) and have a back up of extra tubes, tires, etc. I will continue to conduct clinics once a month, educational and fun!

I am reaching out as many of you in our community have extra bike parts, work in a shop, have used kids gear or may be able to donate for additional parts we need.

How can you help? donations, used components, company gear donations and simply your time! You can come down for the day and help us get these bikes rolling again. We will need volunteers to help with everything.

These campuses center around healthy child and family. They surround this core by cultivating community, environment, enrichment, education and therapy. This is truly a holistic center that embraces optimizing children's lives and creating a safe & driven environment to support every step of the way.Prevention, assessment, transition, outpatient therapy, education, wraparound, foster care, residential treatment are just a few of the services.
