Hi everyone,

My name is Tiana and I’m making this fundraiser for my mum, Kristi.

As many of you may already know, a few weeks ago we came really close to losing her. What started as what we all thought was just a bad flu suddenly turned into sepsis and blood poisoning. Her organs began to shut down, and her kidneys failed completely. She spent a week in the ICU on dialysis, fighting for her life, and it was genuinely the scariest time our family has ever been through.

Even though Mum has been incredibly strong throughout thus process and is finally on the road to recovery, the infection has left her with complications that make daily life really difficult. She’s been in and out of hospital, and right now she’s still very weak, unsteady, and gets exhausted really quickly. Simple things like walking around the house, standing up, or having a shower have become hard and sometimes unsafe for her to do on her own.

The hospital recommended a few mobility aids and supports to help keep her safe while she recovers — things like a walking frame and a shower stool, a blood pressure machine and a couple of other items depending on how her recovery goes. These aren’t huge things, but they add up, and we want her to be able to heal without worrying about money or falling and hurting herself again.

Mum never asks for help for herself, ever. She’s the one who looks after everyone else, and even now she’s trying to pretend she’s “fine” so we don’t worry. But we can see how much she’s struggling, and we just want her to have what she needs to get better safely.

We’re not trying to raise a lot — just enough to help cover the cost of a few basic supports so she can stay steady, shower safely, and keep working towards getting back to normal.
