Shawn Graves was burned in a fire with 2nd and 3rd-degree burns covering 20% of his body. Shawn and Tara need our help....
---- ----
On the evening of February 24, 2024, while Tara was inside their home, Shawn was outside with their son and his friends sitting around their campfire in the backyard when a fire accident caused Shawn to be engulfed in flames, literally. Shawn, with his legs and arm on fire, was able to get himself into their jacuzzi, which likely spared his life, but not before the fire ravaged his legs, arm, and hand. Tara raced Shawn to the hospital in Tehachapi as it was the fastest way to get him medical care.
From there, Shawn was transported by ambulance to the Burn Unit in Bakersfield with 2nd and 3rd-degree burns covering the lower half of his body, his arms, and his left hand. He is expected to be in the burn unit for several weeks after which he’s expected to recover at home.
Shawn’s life has been spared and we praise God!
Now begins the long road of recovery and they need your help.
I’m Gina, one of Tara’s sisters, and we started this page because we know the road ahead is going to be difficult for Shawn and Tara. Shawn’s career has been working with his hands as Millwright and Welder. We don’t know the full extent of Shawn’s injuries or the long-term impacts, coupled with the medical expenses not covered by insurance. We know there's a long road of recovery ahead.
Shawn and Tara are wonderful community members and parents, they've been there for others many times and now, they need our help.
Funds will be used to cover their financial losses to help Shawn focus on recovery and help Tara as she takes on caring for Shawn. No donation is too small. Funds will cover lost income, insurance deductibles, additional medical needs, meals, gas, and rebuilding from this devastating accident. Every gift is sincerely appreciated and 100% of all funds will go directly to Shawn and Tara. Please help reduce their financial burden so they can focus all their attention on rebuilding their lives.
We ask for your help, your prayers, and encouragement for Shawn, Tara, their son, and family. Thank you so much.
