Bring Ron Home

Hi, this is Cliff Smithers. Many of you know Ron Sobczak. He is a great friend of mine and many others here in the Toledo, Ohio area. Ron was a Radio personality for many, many years here in Toledo, working at WOHO, WCWA, 98.3 and 93-5, WRQN. He was also the track annoumcer at Raceway Park. A very talented guy and friend to many!! Back in late February, Ron didn't show up for work at the casino. One of his co-workers went to his house and found him lying on the floor where he had been for two days. Ron was suffering from bleeding ulcers; lucky to be alive! He was immediately transported to St. Charles hospital and was near death. They inserted a tracheotomy to help him breathe and a feeding tube in his nose. While there, he suffered a mild heart attack and was not getting any better. They ended up Life Flighting him to the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, where he has been since February. I visited Ron just the other day, and he cannot speak or move and hasn't since he was hospitalized in Toledo. The one good thing is, he is conscious and has his mind. The sad part is that he has no family or friends there, and he is all alone, outside of his son and some friends getting there as much as possible. As you can well understand, due to the drive and schedules, it's sometimes very hard for someone to be there to help him with his lonliness! He is suffering from depression, along with his very serious health issues. I, along with his family, totally agree that he needs to be back here in Toledo where he can have his family and friends close by. We all feel that if that doesn't happen, Ron is going to give up his fight. Myself, Ron's ex-wife Cathy and his son, Josh have talked and want to do everything we can to get Ron transported back here to Toledo. That is not going to be cheap. We have decided to set up this GoFundMe page and ask all of you, that can find it in your heart, to give what you can so that we can raise the funds to, "Bring Ron Home!" Whatever you can give will whole-heartedly be appreciated by his family, and of course, Ron.

Thank you from the bottom of MY heart!! Ron has been a very close friend of mine for many years and after seeing him the other day in Cleveland, I truly believe he will just give up if he doesn't at least get home where he can be close to his family and friends.
