A Women Who Wants Her Own Business

I wanted to share a few pictures of handbags that I have been making on my domestic sewing  machine.

I tried for a loan and I was denied which was heart breaking. So this is the next step.  I am set up on a Business Go Fund Me page.  Any help at all would be appreciated.

 My Journey:
When I turned 50 I had a feeling that the rest of my life needed to be about ME.  (I know that sounds selfish, please continue to read). I had spent the first 50  being the perfect child for my parents, keeping my grades up- possibly going to college.  Well that changed, I was married at the young age of 18 and in 4 years   I had two wonderful boys added to my life.  I was the room mother, the taxi service, the babysitter of nephews and more.   Then divorced after 12 years.

I was blessed to find a wonderful man, who had  a young daughter, we married three years later - so my family only grew.  I thought my life was set as this is what I was had always done.  I was the best mom and step mom I could be.  And I was not perfect but I gave it my all and did the best that I could. I am very proud of my boys they turned out to wonderful men.  Then the grandkids came and my life turned to helping with them in anyway I could.  I really was very happy.

The last 8 years I have been very ill but this go fund me is not about my physical health but more my mental health.

Then another turn of events:
My husband had the chance to open his own office and be self employed, I  set aside everything I knew to start a whole new life helping him.   I went from Mom/Gma to working 5 days a week very long hours.  At 50 I had no idea what it was I wanted to do but something was calling me.
April of 2016 it finally hit me and I was 55  at this time.
I wanted to learn to embroider.  Thank goodness for FB and YouTube,   I remember getting my embroidery/sewing machine. I had searched for a month to get the right one, the one that I thought would do it all.   I bought a Brother SE400 embroidery machine.  I was going to embroider t-shirts and hats for my husbands business.
I   found a FB group just for my machine to learn all I could.  While I was reading and stalking all the posts I could to get as much information as I could I saw someone share a wallet that they had made themselves.  that was it. I too wanted to make (myself) a wallet.  I was directed by someone in this embroidery group to join a handbag making group.
WOW, no one told me how hard this was going to be.  I could cut out a pattern but there was no way I could even understand what the directions were telling me, I couldn't sew a straight line either.  Through trial and error and the most amazing people I met on that group, I began to learn.     I became the rip-out queen of 2016 or so I felt.  I had to look at the photos of the bag and then I tried to make mine look like it.  But I never gave up, I was afraid to share anything in the group that I had sewn as all the people (men and women) were amazing at what they were sharing and sewing.
They all told me that they started at one time too and they too made mistakes but with each mistake - we learn and learn I did.
By July of 2016 I was actually making handbags out of cotton fabric.  I had to learn interfacing as that is what actually makes the bag or it would just sit there in a pile like your shirt when you take it off.
I was also learning that this great adventure I was on was not cheap.  My husband has been paying for all that I have been doing using credit cards.
Well I have grown beyond the machines I have now, here is it June 2017.  And  I want more, I want to sew leather handbags. I want to design my own Conceal Carry Bags.
For the last year this has been a  hobby but now it is time to step up and get very serious.  I need an industrial sewing machine. For the last year I have been stalking so many fb groups listening and learning what it is I need to purchase  to sew leather.
  after 8 months of searching I found what I want/need at Artisan.com
