Simon

Simon was born with a rare congenital heart defect (Truncus Arteriosus), he had his 1st major surgery at 5 month old and although this in itself was not straight forward, he came through it although it left him with brain damage and learning difficulties.

He had to have more surgery at the age of 8 which again caused other problems but he was a fighter and came through it. He was diagnosed with Autism later in life but none of this stopped him loving life. He had a massive following of people, from family friends to those who attended the sportability club. He would light up the darkest of rooms with his smile and earned the nickname "Smiler".

Last year the family were dealt the most difficult decision of having to put Simon through more surgery, it was going to be a very difficult surgery but they were optimistic of a good outcome. We didn't make this decision lightly and were told his quality of life without it would be none existent.

On 13th July 2022 Simon went down for surgery and after 23 hours in theatre, he came through it although was poorly, he had come through it. Then on Monday last week he went to the Cath Labs and that was when thing's took a turn for the worse.

Unfortunately early Friday evening, Simon's heart failed with the right side not able to pump, the surgeon delivered the worst news we could have ever had and that there was nothing more that could be done. We were told to come to the hospital and basically say our goodbyes. Just after 6:30 pm they turned off the machines and Simon passed away peacefully breaking all of our hearts.

He loved everyone and I believe everyone that ever meet him loved him, he had the cheekiest smile and was always happy.
