Benjamin's recovery

Donation protected
On September 5th, 2023, my father in law, Ben Lamb, was admitted to the hospital for what we thought was a stomach infection. What we thought would be a short stay for IV fluids and some antibiotics to get him feeling better quickly turned in to a nightmare. His infection has caused him to become severely septic. On September 7th, 2023, Ben had both a hemorrhagic stroke and an ischemic stroke. He was transferred urgently to a level 1 stroke center.

Ben is a fighter. He is fighting for his life and for his family. The damage caused by the strokes is extensive and the sepsis will need to be treated for upwards of 12 weeks. His wife, Carrie, has not left his side.

Ben loves his family. He loves his wife, his children, and especially his 4 grandchildren. Throughout the COVID pandemic, Ben was an essential worker and the only one able to provide for all 9 people in his home. He has always taken care of his family.

Ben will now be permanently disabled. He will need extensive rehabilition and medical help. His family is ready and willing to do whatever it takes to care for him in the best way he deserves.
His current hospital is 30 miles from home. His family has been driving back and fourth multiple times a day to check in with his doctors and to check on Carrie.

These events have been nothing short of tragedy for Ben and for his family, who just want him healthy and back home.

The one thing that shouldn't HAVE to be such a worry but is a glaring concern; money. There are so much boxes that need checked before Ben can receive benefits from his union. Carrie has been unable to be at her part time job because she has been by his side. Utility bills need to be paid, gas needs to be put in cars, food needs to be purchased. In the long term, making our home accessible for Ben, being able to pay for his care both while he's at the hospital and when, by God's grace, he comes home. There's so much we don't know yet, but the stress of finances is heavy. And I want to be able to relieve that for my in-laws to the best of my ability.

Any amount helps. If Ben or Carrie ever helped you out around your house, made you laugh, showed you generosity... please consider paying that forward to them. They are both such loving people and they deserve none of what is happening to them.
