Help Us Keep Bruno Safe – A Mother’s Plea for Her Son with Dravet Syndrome
My sweet Bruno has been battling seizures since he was just 3 months old. He was eventually diagnosed with Dravet Syndrome—a rare and catastrophic form of epilepsy that affects every part of his life. He’s now 13 years old, but developmentally, he’s still like a baby. Every day is a fight to keep him safe, healthy, and comfortable.
Bruno can’t speak, walk, or care for himself. He now uses a wheelchair for mobility and a feeding tube for nutrition. He wears diapers and relies on me for everything—just like a newborn would. But unlike a baby, he’s getting bigger, heavier, and his medical needs have only grown more complex.
His seizures are frequent and terrifying, often lasting over 10 minutes. He’s extremely sensitive to lights and patterns, which can trigger seizures out of nowhere—even while he sleeps. I’ve had to watch him turn blue during a seizure, suction him, and pray he takes another breath. This is our daily reality, and my biggest fear is losing him to one of these episodes.
We need help. I’m raising funds to purchase a safe, reliable wheelchair-accessible van for Bruno.
The used van I was able to afford has been unreliable, with constant mechanical and electrical issues. Transporting Bruno safely has become incredibly stressful and physically exhausting. A dependable van would mean safe trips to his many medical appointments—and peace of mind during emergencies.
This fundraiser will also help cover:
Specialized equipment Bruno needs daily
Basic expenses tied to his intensive, around-the-clock care
I’m a single mom and had to give up my job when Bruno was diagnosed. I’ve devoted my life to his care because he needs me—every minute, every day. Asking for help is not easy, but I will do anything to make sure my son is safe.
I’m not asking for luxury—just stability, comfort, and the tools we need to manage Bruno’s complex condition. If we raise more than what we need, I promise every extra dollar will go toward helping other families in similar situations. I know this life, and I know how much even a little support can mean.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart for supporting Bruno’s journey. Your help gives us hope.
With love and gratitude,
Bruno’s Mom
