Tigray transport

Abraham's Oasis is an Ethiopian Resident Charity based in norther-western Tigray.

Our vision is 'Sustainable opportunities for the vulnerable and marginalised'

We receive abused, orphaned, abandoned and unwanted babies and children.

Every effort is made to reunify them with family / kindfolk, they are then monitoried by psycho-sociologist to ensure they are safe. Some children may be adopted by Ethiopian families. The few where these options are not available live as a family in a residential project called Grace Village.

We also identify recent arrival street children with the aim of returning them home and back to school.

Another project is to assist low income and HIV/AIDS affected families to develop thheir own income generation activities.

We support low income families with children with school supplies at the beginning of each school year.

During low harvest / famine times Abraham's Oasis supported 1,500 children with complementary high energy biscuits and peanut butter enabling them to remain at school despite grave hunger.

All these projects requires supervision and follow-up that means covering great distances by vehicle. Our projects are funded and we do have two Toyota Land cruisers that are eight and seven years old. The normal life of these type of all terrain vehicles is five years, and we have kept our going with great care and regular service check-ups and one driver only policy.

The funds will go to Abraham's Oasis UK:

Charitable Trust ref: XT34479

Abraham's Oasis UK will transfer the money through the correct channels already in place.

We would like to ensure ongoing transportation for this important work among the worlds most vulnerable.

I am based in UK but travel two to three times a year to Ethiopia and acted as an external advisor.
