I never imagined I’d be writing this, but I’m asking for help to save my bunny, Peanut.
Last night my bunny Teddy became suddenly extremely sick — struggling to breathe, I rushed him to the emergency vet and after paying hundreds, the vets tried everything they could, but he had a seizure and I had to make the heartbreaking decision to put him to sleep. Losing Teddy so suddenly broke me. The next morning after Teddy passed, I checked all my other rabbits and found that his bonded brother, Peanut, had a large lump on his throat which tripled in size within the hour. I took him to the vet this morning. The vet confirmed it’s a severe abscess caused by infection (similar to what Teddy had) that cannot be drained and needs to be surgically removed. Without surgery, the infection will spread and he won’t survive.
The estimate for Peanut’s surgery is around $900, but it gives him a good chance at living a long life as he is only one years old and I have to give him that chance. After paying the emergency vet bills for Teddy, the oxygen treatment, medications, exams, fee to put him down, and the consultation and meds for Peanut, I have spent over $1500 in the last 24 hours, I’m financially drained and can not come up with the money fast enough to save Peanut. He is currently on pain meds but will not get better on his own. I can’t afford this surgery alone — but I can’t lose Peanut too.
If anyone can help, even a little, it would mean the world to me. Peanut is still fighting, and I am praying for a miracle. Anyone who knows me knows how much my pets mean to me, they are my world. Thank you to anyone who can support us during this nightmare.
Please help me save Peanut. ❤️
