This year in May we have the election for our Police & Crime Commissioner and the very crucial elections for Worcestershire County Council – elections we must win. Unfortunately, campaigning for much of 2020 proved almost impossible. We were not only unable to canvass door to door but also unable to hold any fundraising events due to social distancing. However, we have been able to select some fantastic candidates to represent the Association and we hope to introduce you to them all in the very near future.
Because these elections are so important, I am launching this Fighting Fund Appeal early, with a target to raise £15,000, in order that we will have sufficient funds to ensure we can campaign to elect as many Conservative County Councillors in May as possibly. The current Conservative County Council has done a magnificent job in coordinating Worcestershire’s COVID-19 response, working closely with other Councils, the emergency services, central government, the armed forces and so on; in addition to maintaining its frontline services wherever possible and invest in new infrastructure and major projects which will have huge positive impacts on every one of us. I personally would like to take this opportunity to thank Councillor Simon Geraghty, his fellow Conservative team, and Officers of the County Council for the tremendous work they have done on our behalf.
Its vitally important to keep a Conservative controlled County Council and focus on our key values of:
Keeping council tax low.
Protecting the most vulnerable in society.
Growing the local economy and creating new jobs including apprenticeships.
Connecting the County and relieving congestion points as well as building more local flood defences.
Investing in continued improvements to local Roads and Pavements.
This Fighting Fund Appeal comes directly to you from West Worcestershire Conservative Association as one of our Members. Any amount you contribute to this Appeal will be used entirely within the Association to fight elections, elections we must win. I know only too well how much we ask of our Members, but this election will have to be much more targeted than ever before. We are unable to knock on doors and so we will have to distribute more leaflets. We cannot hold fundraising events, yet we will need funds to post much of our literature. And so, I make a very personal appeal to you, to donate as much as you are able, to ensure we can fight and win the forthcoming elections.
