Olivia's Cancer Journey

Donation protected

Olivia Hogarth is a pretty normal teenage girl. She began dirt bike riding when she was five years old. Picture a five year old girl, dressed in pink, atop a Honda fifty, spinning dirt in the air and yelling, “I’m too fast and I’m too furious!” She was absolutely disgusted that her dad wouldn’t take the governor off the throttle. She loves to go fast whether it’s snowboarding, riding dirt bikes, or flying around the house playing with her dog, Diesel. She is not prissy, doesn’t wear lace and ruffles, but she loves to change up her hair color as often as her nail polish. Right now, tattoos are her passion, starting with a tattoo to commemorate her mother, Carrie Anne Morgan Hogarth’s passing into heaven in 2009. She loves her dad, and her older brother: nothing can get in the way of her tormenting/conversing with her brother.

Olivia is not moving so fast these days. She was involved in a car accident in April, the other driver failed to yield at a traffic light. She has been recuperating from a nasty case of whiplash, her back was kinked, and her knee was banged up from hitting the dash. In October, her orthopedist was removing what he thought was a routine blood clot from above her knee, but found strange tissue instead. A biopsy was done. The result was Synovial Cell Sarcoma. This cancer affects the soft tissue in joints and can, if not caught early, result in amputation and enter the lungs, etc. Olivia is undergoing surgery, again, in Salt Lake City, to remove all the cancer around her knee. This is just the start of Liv’s journey. She will need grafts to replace the tissue and many, many follow ups to check for recurrence.

Olivia’s father has medical insurance, “thank God,” that will pay about two-thirds of the medical bills.  Meanwhile there are travel expenses and missing wages for her Dad and Olivia’s grandmother, whom she lives with. Olivia’s friends and family have been asking, “Is there anything we can do? Let us know if you need any help.”  We hate to do this, but we really do need help.  Anything you can spare will be greatly appreciated. And, please don’t make your donation anonymous, unless you really don’t want to be acknowledged. Bless everyone who has been praying and sending good wishes for Liv.  Your support is more than anyone could ask.
