Support Dara Hadley & Family

I am just one of many friends looking to help the Hadley family in any way they need. Their daughter Dara is fourteen years old and should be a high school freshman, going to dances, playing her viola and hanging out with friends. She is not. She is in and out of the Adolescent ICU suffering chronic pain and praying for the intentions of others. She is teaching med students the power of faith and the importance hope plays in healing.
It all began in the spring when Dara started having pain in her neck. Her mom thought it was too much practice on the viola. Sadly, it was nothing so 'easy' .... An MRI was done and doctors discovered serious issues with her heart, so serious, that open-heart surgery was needed immediately. With minimal time to heal, Dara's neck pain got so bad to the point where she was, and continues to be, off the 1 - 10 chart. The disease she has is called Spinal AVM where her blood vessels grow out of control anywhere they want to go...unfortunately Dara's grew in her neck/shoulder area and around her spine and spinal cord.
Like any parent facing this situation, Dara's parents dropped everything and went to work on finding help for their daughter. Help is in Baltimore, MD at Johns Hopkins Hospital where there is one surgeon with enough experience to work through the AVM. He has never seen a case like Dara's and though hopeful, does not have a 'quick fix'.
Dara will be having a minimum of 6 to 8 procedures to clean up what is there and then return periodically for as many years as necessary. It is understood that each procedure poses risks to her mobility and her life.
Thanks to family, friends and The Ronald McDonald House, Mark and Cheryl Hadley are where they need to be, by their daughter’s side. However, expenses are piling up and the mortgage and utilities need to be paid. Mark is a consultant who is paid when he works; there is no sick leave or paid vacation time available.
I came up with $12,000 but this does not factor in the medical bills yet to come. Any money not used for paying bills will be donated to The Ronald McDonald House where so many families hope and pray for their sick children's health to be restored.
If you, your children and/or grandchildren are healthy, please thank God every day. It is truly a gift. No one should have to stand by helplessly while his or her loved one cries in pain. Please pass this on and and pray Dara keeps the faith and hope alive. God bless.
