Support Kelsey’s Fight Against Cancer

Thanks so much for visiting this page. I’m Kelsey’s sister, Jenny, and I’m starting this account to help alleviate some of the financial stress that Kelsey shouldn't have to endure during her cancer treatment.

A little bit about my baby sister: Kelsey is 33 years old, a single mom, a kindergarten teacher, an avid runner, and loves to have a good time. She is a light to everyone and everything around her and truly brings joy and humor to every situation.

Life is unfair and she needs our help.

To be clear: Kelsey’s main focus is not asking for help, as that is very difficult for her to do. OUR main focus, as her tribe who loves her and supports her, is asking for help so she doesn’t have to.

On August 4th, Kelsey went to the ER because of acute chest and back pain she had been experiencing. She’s the most athletic person I know and was running miles each day. Her run on the morning of the 4th was different. She knew something wasn’t right. We went to the ER and they did an x-ray that showed a softball size mass in her chest. She was transported to a higher level hospital in Round Rock and held overnight for more testing and a biopsy. The results came back as Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma.

Over the past few weeks she has undergone a series of tests and was given her Cancer Plan. She will have 18-24 weeks of aggressive chemotherapy and was admitted to the hospital to begin her chemo treatments on September 1. Fortunately, Kelsey will be surrounded by family and friends for the support she deserves both mentally and physically and to say we have a village is an understatement. Many of you reading this are likely a part of our village that will carry her through this battle with cancer.

One thing of certainty is that Kelsey will need the most help with the financial toll this diagnosis has already placed upon her.

Outside of the deductibles, out-of-pocket expenses, and living expenses, Kelsey will run out of paid time off as a teacher after this current medical stay and this is only her first chemotherapy treatment. That means that she will not get paid for the weeks that she has to take off for treatment. Kelsey’s biggest focus is to maintain her daughter Henley’s sense of normalcy and that of her beloved students in her kindergarten class. “I am in this fight and I will rally everyday to the best of my ability for those around me to have the least impact regarding this cancer diagnosis.”- This statement is directly quoted from my amazing sister.

All funds raised will go to assist Kelsey’s financial and medical needs throughout this battle. Please keep my sister in your prayers and share this story with your family and friends. We will be updating this page as Kelsey’s treatment progresses.
