Hey friends,
Remember Sophia, the sweet black cat who my neighbor and I saved, helped heal, and found a wonderful home for?
Well, meet her brother, OREO.
He’s been living in my complex since he was born- alongside his step-siblings.
I’ve been wanting to see if I could trap him, get him neutered, and homed, but haven’t been in the position to do so.
He is about 2 years old by now, has grown/filled out in the past two months a whole bunch, is the “protector” of the group, and is a sweetie.
He permits me to pet him, but is skittish when others walk by or if I’m with my kids.
Oreo has developed conjunctivitis, by the looks of it.
A couple of days ago, I saw some mucus coming out of his eyes, and I was able to wipe off a tiny bit of it. But yesterday, when my kids and I saw him, we noticed how pink his eyes are looking, and that mucous is caked on.
I’m super concerned, of course.
It just so happens that the amazing woman who took in Sophia, will take in her brother❤️… but I need to get him examined, immunized, and neutered.
I’m working a 1099 commission job (you all know I lost my full time job in January) and am making enough to just cover my bills/rent. My CC is MAXED out, unfortunately.
There’s no way that I can take on paying for a vet bill for this baby. (Sophia’s mom can offer $100)
If I am able to trap him, I will need financial assistance.
I called the vet that took care of Sophia, and they told me that they couldn’t give me a complete estimate right now because the doctor would have to see Oreo and determine what he needs. But I do know that the appointment is $75, the exam is $55, & with immunizations it goes up. Additionally, he’s going to need medication, and who knows what else.
I’m hoping to work with a rescue on a low-cost neuter for him.
I am feeling really overwhelmed right now… I am not in a position to be doing anything other than taking care of myself, my kids, and my own two cats - but I also can’t see this baby outside, sick with pink eye, and who knows what else?
If you can spare anything at all towards Oreo's vet visits, I would greatly appreciate that!
Thank you, as always, for your support and for caring for these innocent babies!
