Debra's Story:
In June of 2024, Debbie was diagnosed with Stage 3A Endometrial High-grade Serous Carcinoma. She had a full hysterectomy to remove the cancer and then started her 6 chemo treatments over an 18-week period. About a week before her final treatment, she ended up in the ER with severe abdominal pain. We then found out the cancer had metastasized and spread throughout her abdomen and that the chemo treatments were not working. Because the cancer is so aggressive, the only options she was given were a chemo pill and immunotherapy that would need to be continued for the rest of her life. The chances of these treatments working are not very high. They hope it will stop her tumors from growing with a possibility to shrink them. After a few weeks on immunotherapy, she has had growing tumors that have become painful, so they are starting localized radiation on her abdomen. The new chemo pill has made her very sick and with the added pain, she has had to take a leave from work. With this not-so-promising news, we have looked into alternative therapies. Unfortunately, these come with a very high cost that is not covered by insurance. We are hoping with a little help we can start these therapies to help her treatment start moving in the right direction and take away the burden of worrying about the medical bills that come along with it. Thank you all for your help and support during this difficult time! We cannot thank everyone enough.
