Journey to a new kidney

Hello, my name is Brittany Thompson and I am 28 years old. I am a wife and mother to two beautiful little boys. During my pregnancy with my second son I was diagnosed with Kidney Failure (7months). I was devastated because I thought that I had been given a death sentence. I had no idea what this meant for the remainder of my pregnancy and my growing baby. All I knew was I wanted nothing more than for my baby to be okay.

 

Thankfully with the help of some amazing doctors my son came into this world healthy and thriving though he was delivered premature. I started dialysis four days before I gave birth and I have been on it now for seven months. Being on dialysis while caring for a new born is no easy task but I handle it with grace because I feel so blessed to still be here.

 

Receiving a new kidney would give me a second chance at life and allow me to be here for my sons. It would take away the burden of weekly dialysis treatments and allow me to get some normalcy back into my life. My oldest son is three years old and my baby is seven months and I would like nothing more than to be here to watch them grow and develop into young men. Due to my difficulties during pregnancy I had to resign from my job and was therefore left without insurance.
