Emma Porter has been diagnosed with a rare disease called Acute Necrotizing Encephalopathy which caused an autoimmune over-response. Effectively, her body launched an attack on her brain, causing severe swelling. She is currently in the ICU at Lurie’s Children’s Hospital of Chicago.
