Help the Cartwright Family
I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of the Cartwright family. On the morning of Friday, August 13th Darren was having odd chest pressure which radiated down his arms. At this time he was in Nebraska due to his job. He drives an 18 wheeler and does deliveries throughout the US. He is typically come about 3 weeks a month. Upon hearing his symptoms, Jennifer, his wife advised to take an Uber to the nearest urgent care to get checked out. Upon arrival it was quickly determined Darren was in an active heart attack. He was immediately taken by ambulance to the nearest hospital. However, they too, we’re not equipped to handle the immediate procedure that Darren needed. He was quickly life flighted to Nebraska Heart Institute where they immediately took him to the cath lab and placed three stents. While we are so very thankful for the amazing medical teams that saved Darren’s life by acting so quickly, the long term effects of this heart attack will effect his family emotionally and financially. Thankfully the Cartwright’s do have health insurance however one the meds alone was $400. It was advised that they drive home as opposed to fly and to rent a car to was $800. To make matters worse, Darren is the family’s main source of income and is (at minimum) going to be out of work for 3-4 weeks.
Please note Jennifer Cartwright is a dear friend of mine whom I’ve had the joy of getting to know over the past couple years as she fosters and helps me run a non profit dog rescue. I was given approval by her to start this go fund me however Jennifer did not really want it. This family is one that is constantly doing for others. When Jennifer isn’t driving a school bus for CISD or chasing her girls at their activities, she can be found doing for others or saving dogs. Darren needs ample recovery time to allow his body to heal. The Cartwright family needs help financially to cover their monthly bills, day to day to expenses, etc. Jennifer does work however she carries all four of the family members on her health insurance and that takes a majority of her check.
Please help me relieve some stress off the family so they can focus on getting back to normal and Darren healthy. Any dollar amount is appreciated and no amount is too small. I’ve started it at $5,000 and will adjust accordingly, dependent on what the local cardiologists suggest at his follow up appointment.
