Hi Everyone! I am raising funds for my mother in law, Laurie Bruno who is currently fighting for her life.
On Christmas Day, our world changed forever. After years of chronic pain and worsening symptoms after what should have been a simple shoulder surgery, she suddenly lost feeling in her legs and was rushed to the hospital. Doctors discovered a large tumor compressing her cervical spinal cord, requiring emergency, life-saving surgery.
Pathology results confirmed the diagnosis we never expected to hear: Stage 4 metastatic melanoma.
The tumor had been silently growing, and by the time it was found, it caused severe spinal cord compression leading to significant neurological damage. She is now facing not only a cancer diagnosis, but also the reality of permanent mobility loss, extensive rehabilitation, and aggressive oncology treatment including immunotherapy.
She has already endured:
Emergency spinal surgery
Reconstructive Spinal Surgery
Loss of mobility and sensation
Hospitalization and ICU care
Ongoing pain and neurological complications
And this is only the beginning.
The road ahead includes:
Oncology treatment for metastatic melanoma
Radiation and/or immunotherapy
Extensive physical rehabilitation
Follow-up surgeries and imaging
Travel to specialists and cancer centers
Home modifications and mobility support
Lost income and mounting medical bills
Right now, our family’s focus is on keeping her alive, comfortable, and hopeful, but the financial burden is overwhelming. Even with insurance, the costs associated with cancer care, rehabilitation, and daily living needs are staggering.
We are asking for help — not because it’s easy, but because it’s necessary.
Every donation, share, and prayer helps relieve some of the weight so we can focus on what matters most: her fight for life and dignity.
If you’re unable to donate, please consider sharing this page. Your support means more than we can put into words.
Thank you for standing with us during the hardest moment of our lives.
