Help Leah Preserve Her Future Family

Hello, my name is Arcelia Martinez, and I’m reaching out as a parent, asking for support during the most difficult time of our lives.

In July 2024, my daughter Leah was diagnosed with leukemia. Since then, my brave and beautiful daughter has endured chemotherapy and a stem cell transplant. She is currently being treated at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA), where her incredible team of doctors is now preparing her for a bone marrow transplant. This next step includes high-dose radiation treatments that are necessary to save her life—but they also pose a heartbreaking consequence: they will likely leave Leah infertile.

Leah is just 12 years old, one month away from her 13th birthday. She should be thinking about school, hobbies, and growing up—not about whether she’ll ever be able to have children one day. Her oncologist has recommended fertility preservation, specifically egg harvesting and freezing, to give Leah the option to one day have her own biological children.

Unfortunately, this procedure is not covered by insurance and is extremely expensive—but it’s time-sensitive and needs to happen before radiation begins.

As her mother, I want Leah to have every chance at a full and joyful life—including the chance to build a family, if she chooses to, when she’s older. That’s why we are humbly asking for your help.

We are trying to raise 13,000 to cover the cost of her fertility preservation, medical expenses, and associated care. Every donation, no matter the amount, brings us closer to giving Leah this critical opportunity.
