Life for our beloved Dacia Williams and her boys was very different during the holiday season last year. This year, Dacia and her boys need our immediate and ongoing support as they face the battle of their lives!
As most of you know, Dacia has been struggling with serious, neurological health issues of unknown cause and has been out of work since the third week of July. For the last four months, Dacia’s symptoms have been severe and she and her family have been stuck in an incredibly difficult medical “nightmare.”
Dacia’s return-to-work date is unknown, but doesn’t look to be anytime soon, despite her desire to heal and come back ASAP….
As some of Dacia’s many symptoms have begun to ease off some days, doctors at UCDavis think her nerves are starting to repair themselves, but there’s no knowing how long the recovery process will take or to what extent she’ll heal. The past few days have been rough; the symptoms have been worse and yesterday Dacia was completely bedridden again.
It’s an incredibly difficult, stressful and sad time for our dear Dacia and family. Thank God, Dacia’s mom has moved in to help Dacia and the boys. Friends have assisted with carpooling, meals, flowers -- and gift cards for Dacia to give to the carpool parents. Many of us want to help (or help more!), but don’t know what to do. Here’s how!
Within the next few weeks, Dacia will have exhausted her sick leave and vacation time. She’s been approved for a medical leave of absence through the end of May 2016 – but that means NO pay and NO benefits for this single mom of two beginning in just a few weeks! COBRA health insurance costs alone are $1300/month – and Dacia desperately needs medical coverage! Her family is not in a position to help, so it’s very stressful for everyone.
As you know, Dacia’s not one to ask for help, but she desperately needs our generous assistance now – and is appreciative of this GoFundMe campaign. Anything we can do to ease the financial burden on Dacia and her young family will mean one less source of fear and anxiety as Dacia focuses on healing and getting her life back!
