Hello kind people,
Thank you for your prayers and generosity toward our brother and our family. My sister Karen and I received unexpected news today that our brother John passed away this morning. We are deeply heart-broken but still have hope in our hearts that John is now walking tall in heaven without pain.
My brother John had a fall in May 2025 and was on the floor for 2-3 days before a wellness call alerted local first responders to check on him. He broke his shoulder, was dehydrated, and had an infection growing inside of him along with other injuries. John has been a soccer coach for several years, coaching Women's and Men's teams at colleges throughout the USA. He was one of the youngest Olympic Development coaches and had the honor of coaching a world cup female player when she was in her teens. He coached a Women's soccer team in Japan and has always been a strong advocate for women and sport.
John underwent surgeries to remove infections and is still unable to walk at this time. He is just beginning a 2nd round of rehab and this Monday, with the insurance he has, will have to pay $209.50 a day to continue rehab. He started a first round and had to return to the hospital due to infection. That is cleared up now and he has had one week of rehab. He has been able to hold parallel bars but so far cannot put weight on one of his legs due to contracture during the fall. The place where he is located has an excellent rehab team and he is beginning to feel hopeful for walking in the future.
John is not ready to leave 24-hour rehab care at this time, but his goal is to walk out of the rehab in a couple of months to return to his life. He does not have the funds to do this but I know that family and friends can make this a possibility.
