My name is Matthew and I started this fundraiser for Andrew Leedom and his family. We are friends and coworkers.
Andy suffered a traumatic life changing injury on May 6th 2021, resulting in the loss of his left leg from above the knee.
Andy, my little brother Zach, and myself were working, washing storefront windows on Main street in downtown Steamboat Springs Colorado, when a reckless driver slammed into Andy's parked car, pinning him between his vehicle and my parked work truck.
The damage was done, as his leg nearly severed on impact. Zach was also struck and thrown to the ground. Even though Zach had just been hit by a car, he jumped up, grabbed his first aid kit, and applied a tourniquet to Andy's leg, which saved his life. Andy was sent to Denver for emergency surgery on Flight For Life a few hours later.
The following morning it was determined that his leg could not be saved, so it was amputated just above the knee.
Andy is a husband, a father, a friend, a veteran of war, and so much more. We are asking for donations to help Andy and his family get through this traumatic event.
Update: We just learned that his other leg was badly broken, and will require surgery.
