Hello Everyone,

My name is Palmela and I am advocating to save a dog's life. She was found on the streets in Venice, CA. Unfortunately, she did not have a collar nor is she microchipped. Sadly, I cannot adopt her as I look after several dogs and some of them with special needs.

I had to make the heartbreaking decision to take this incredibly sweet dog to the animal shelter, because there was no way I was going to leave her on the street to fend for herself. The problem is that these city shelters are NOT NO KILL. Meaning, they could euthanize an animal due to lack of space. Amongst other reasons, I am in a race with time.

I posted signs all around the vicinity where she was found and posted on all the lost/found pet apps. Nobody came forward to claim her, so after 5 days the shelter put her up for adoption and named her Vanilla. She is not safe now, because at any given time, she could go on the Red List (to be euthanized) to make space at the shelter. I immediately started calling all the Rescues in Los Angeles in hopes they could pull her out of the shelter, but to no avail. Then a few days ago, I got a call that a rescue in New York is willing to take her in, but I would have to transport her there.

I contacted the rescue to let them know the plan, but Vanilla will have to be spayed before they can release her to me. So at this point, the only choice we have is to arrange a solo transport so she can decompress and be as comfortable as possible after a few days of surgery healing time. Transport will cost $2,800 and Vanilla will have all the attention she needs on this 3-day road trip from Los Angeles to New York. Now, we just need to get her there. We are Vanilla's only hope to get her out of that shelter and on her way to people who already love her in New York.

Vanilla deserves a loving family. We have about 1 - 2 weeks to raise the funds. Will you please consider donating towards her transport. My heart is breaking for her. Please help me save Vanilla. She is so worth it! Thank you New York Second Chance Rescue for stepping up for Vanilla!
