Hi, my name is Ashlyn Gouker, and I’m working toward earning my Eagle Scout rank. For my project, I’ve partnered with the Isaiah 117 House in South Carolina to support children entering the foster care system—especially teenage girls, who often arrive with little more than the clothes on their back.
I’m creating care packs just for them—filled with comforting, personal items to help ease the fear and uncertainty that comes with such a big life change. These packs are meant to remind them that they matter, that they are not alone, and that someone out there cares.
In addition to the care packs, I’m building a cozy reading nook in the backyard of the Isaiah House. This peaceful space will include a little free library, a weeping willow tree, and comfortable seating. It’s designed to be a quiet retreat where any child in the system, no matter their age or background, can read, relax, and feel a sense of calm and belonging.
This project is close to my heart because I believe every kid deserves comfort, dignity, and the chance to feel safe. Your support will help me purchase the supplies and materials needed to make these care packs and build the reading space—two things that will make a real impact in the lives of foster children.
Thank you so much for helping me make this possible.
With gratitude,
Ashlyn Gouker
Eagle Scout Candidate
