Hi everyone, my name is Vanessa. Justin and I are looking to fundraise some money to help supplement the cost of surgery for our 3 year old cat Bailey. She has just been diagnosed with an injection site sarcoma, which is an extremely aggressive, fast growing cancerous tumour, that must be surgically removed as soon as possible. Without this surgery, her life expectancy is 6 months.
We want to give Bailey the best fighting chance possible. There is a high likelihood she’ll live the rest of her life without this tumour recurring once it’s surgically removed since it was caught early on.
The surgery to remove these injection site sarcomas have come a long way in the past 20 years, so thankfully there’s an 85% chance it will never come back after removal. We were assured that Bailey is a strong fighting candidate for surgery, especially given how young she is.
How do these tumours develop? After cats receive injections at the vet, it can swell. It’s the swelling from an injection itself that can turn cancerous, and thus into a tumour. Apparently scientists still don’t fully understand why a cats’ immune systems can turn on itself and react this way.
Baileys tumour developed in between her shoulders at the bottom of her neck, making this surgery more costly.
Please don’t feel pressured to contribute, as anything small will be appreciated, and put 100% towards Bailey to help cover the cost of this expensive surgery. Thank you in advance.
