Updated 3/10/2019: IJF world ranking
My name is Nahiara (Nayi) Feliciano Williams. I am from the small Caribbean island of Vieques, Puerto Rico (also known as La Isla Nena). I am a 16 year old Judo athlete representing Puerto Rico (PR) in National and International competitions. I hold the 2018 National Judo Championship title for the 63 Kg – Cadets. However, I have been a PR National Judo Champion for 8 consecutive years in the respective categories. My ultimate goal is to be part of the PR Olympic Team and compete in the 2020 and 2024 Olympic Games. Currently, I am ranked #8 in the World (63 Kg for cadets) by the International Judo Federation. This year, I will be competing in a number of classifying Judo tournaments in various countries. These competitions involve high travel expenses and miscellaneous costs associated with the preparation. I am asking for your generous support to help me prepare and continue my journey toward the Olympic Games. In addition to my athletic goals, I strive to maintain my high academic achievements. These two goals are very importance to me. I am on a road to success but need help to alleviate some of the financial burdens. We welcome any size donations and sponsorship. My upcoming International Tournaments include: 2019 Santo Domingo Cadetes & Juniors Pan American Cup 2019 Panama City Cadetes & Juniors Pan American Cup 2019 Lima Cadetes & Juniors Pan American Cup 2019 Montreal Cadetes & Juniors Pan American Cup 2019 Colombia Pan American Cadetes & Juniors Championship 2019 Sudamericano Cadetes & Juniors Last year, I participated in numerous International competitions including countries like the Dominican Republic, Panama, Peru, Ecuador and Canada. Some of my accomplishments include: 2018 Montreal Cadet Pan American Cup – 2nd place 2018 Pan American Cadet Championship – 5th place 2018 Santo Domingo Pan American Open – 7th place 2018 Montreal Junior Pan American Cup – 7th place With the strike of Hurricane Maria, my former training "dojo", was destroyed completely. During that time, I trained in an improvised location. There have been many challenges and obstacles along the way. However, my resilience, competitive spirit, and athletic/personal goals remain the same. Recently, I have been accepted in the Albergue Olimpico de Puerto Rico. There, I will continue my education, sport training and the pursue of my Olympic goals. Information from its website: "The Albergue Olímpico Germán Rieckehoff of Puerto Rico and/or Olympic trust is a training sports and recreation center located in Salinas, PR. It is the most complete such Center in America, housing 45 sports facilities in one location. An educational institution that generates the best youth sports talent on the island with a program of integral cognitive-constructivist training for the student-athlete. The Lodge enjoys international prestige because of the excellent standard of its facilities and the quality of its services, annually accepting athletes from PR and from around the world, eager to train in the sports facilities, built under rigorous Olympic requirements within the most extraordinary natural environment. It is a private non-profit institution, dedicated to the service of sports, education, family recreation and health for the Puerto Rican people and the world.” Please help me raise funds to continue my journey. Your generosity is much appreciated. May God bless you and yours! Sincerely, Nay and family
