On August 19th of this year the boating and fishing community said goodbye to our dear friend, a passionate Yachtsman and Captain, Doug Apfelberg. Since his sudden and unexpected death, we have been considering the best way to honor Doug’s life and show support for his family.
 

While we may be unable to fill the void Doug’s passing leaves, we can help guarantee that his wife Susan is able to continue to provide for the education of their son Riese. Education was important to Doug, and with the loss of his father, best friend, and mentor, we agree that Riese’s education is now more important than ever. Riese is currently attending 6th grade at Highlands Christian Academy in Pompano Beach, Florida with plans of attending through high school. Our goal is to support Susan and Riese by raising money for the Riese Apfelberg Education Fund. Donations to the fund will be in the custody of Highlands Christian Academy and restricted solely for the use of tuition and related education costs for the benefit of Riese Apfelberg.

 
It’s hard to imagine the impact Doug’s loss will have on Susan and Riese, but together we can give them assurance that Riese’s education is secure and hopefully provide a small sense of stability in their lives. We ask that you please consider a donation to the Riese Apfelberg Education Fund.
