Help with car

I never thought I would be the one to write this but I find myself in need of help. Let me tell you why I am posting this.
Last year, my nearly twenty-year-old truck finally broke down, needing at least $3000 in repairs. Instead of putting that much in a vehicle with 250k miles, we looked for a newer car. We found one with 65k miles and a bit of warranty. I had it for only 1 month and 1 day before the transmission blew. It was mostly covered by warranty, but it took 6 weeks to fix. We got by on the kindness of family and friends in borrowing cars and helping to arrange rides. After the transmission was fixed, I drove it for about 2 months, finally able to enjoy my new (to me) car. Then, two weeks ago, I was T-boned by a driver who ran a red light. My new-used car with its new transmission was totaled. I was at no fault for the accident, and insurance is covering the damage. However, because I bought the car during the used car inflation period, the insurance payoff is considerably less than what I owe on the car. Our gap insurance is only covering a portion of the gap.
Additionally and most importantly, I find myself out of a car. I need that vehicle in order to get to my two jobs. That is what I am asking for: enough money to pay off what the gap insurance isn't covering and enough put a down payment on a reliable vehicle to get me to work. I am not wanting a free car; I was making payments on the previous car and will on a new used one, but I put all the extra we had into a down payment for the totaled car only 4 months ago; I don't have anything left for a new down payment.
If you feel that you could help, please give. If you would like a reference I can provide an email to my pastor. I am just at a loss for what to do, since I will lose my jobs if I cannot get to work.
