Donation protected
On Sunday, February 14th, 2016, Jimmy Sherrill expienced a devastating apartment fire. Jimmy lost almost everything and being on a fixed income, replacing everything is an insurountable activity for him. Below is an excerpt from the Tulsa World article that appeared in November 2015.
“I thank the Lord that I’m a Christian,” he replied, “and the coaches here for letting me be around.”
The “here” to which Sherrill refers is Memorial High School. For 38 years, on a voluntary basis, he has been a fixture within the Charger football, basketball and baseball programs.
“I used to run the down markers (during football games),” Sherrill explains. “I help with basketball — give water to the players. I help with baseball — sometimes get the helmets and the bats when the players are running around the bases.”
Sherrill’s prized possessions are his state championship rings that commemorate several basketball state titles and one baseball title.
