10 years ago, my son, Andres Aleman was born with failing kidneys .
After several surgeries, the doctors and nurses, along with modern technology were able to stabilize him. However, even with all the surgeries, he was left with only 15% of one kidney working and most recently was on dialysis, so no kidney function . We were told he would need a kidney transplant to stay alive.
Although we do our best to give Andres a "normal" life, which now includes being a big brother to his sister Sophia and younger brother, Adrian and although Andres was able to "live" he was unable to do many things other children his age did.
On July 10th, our prayers were answered. My wife & I received a call from Miami Transplant Institute at UM/Jackson Memorial Hospital, that a possible kidney match was available for Andres, they asked if we can bring him in as quickly as possible to be evaluated, to see if his body accepts the kidney transplant.
We are so happy & filled with joy to report the surgery was a success! The kidney is in and it has taken perfectly, he's already drinking liquids. Miracles are happening everywhere and every second of the day and our waiting is over. My son has a healthy kidney!
Like every other parent out there, my wife, Karla and I work very hard and to do whatever it takes for our children to be happy and healthy.
And also like every other parent out there- our hearts to your hearts, my family and I ask today on behalf of my son for your help , every little bit counts.
It is always a blessing to us whatever we receive.
It is unfortunate that something like a life-saving organ transplant isn't fully covered by our health insurance.
As you can imagine, medical bills are starting to add up and my wife and I are asking for help. Your help.
