Help Nicole Rebuild Recovery Fund

Canton, North Carolina was hit by a devastating microburst storm from tropical storm Fred, resulting in extreme flooding Tuesday 8/17. A lot of area is decimated- lots of homes and small business have flood damage. But the area of Cruso and Bethel all but completely washed away from the river cresting at over 19 feet around 3pm. My grooming assistant Nicole Jones and her boyfriend Matt Kelkas’s house sat on the river and was absolutely destroyed from rushing flood water, debris, tree limbs, sludge, and mud. Everything that Nicole owned was in a storage building that was washed off the property and has not recovered yet. Also on their property was Matt’s moms house (also significantly damaged), his workshop with thousands of dollars of tools that are missing, sentimental items from her parents who have passed away that may never be recovered, three vehicles and a ATV that are all a loss, and one of their 3 dogs is missing presumed not to be found. Nicole also has a five year old daughter who thankfully is not home at the moment but all of her belongings are destroyed as well.
Nicole is my other half at work and the reason I am able to successfully do what I do every day for the last few months. I truly am heartbroken for what she has been through and continues to go though over the next couple months as they recover.
Right now immediate needs of a place to stay, some clothing, food, water, and basic toiletries are covered- as well as the dogs and cats are safe and provided for for now. They will need furniture, kids clothes and toys, household appliances, everything to rebuild from the ground up. Please if you have anything extra, please contact me or her and we’ll coordinate where to get it so it can be appropriately donated or stored until ready. I thank you from the bottom of my heart, Canton/Cruso have a lot of rebuilding to do, and it’s going to take an entire community coming together to do so.
