Im Brian Williams and maintain a house with my wife Kim and daughter Madisen. We have been truly blessed to have the family and friends we have and the home we live in. In the last few months we have experienced some devastating news and situations that have put us in a difficult spot. The following are the facts that detail some of what we’ve faced . My wife retired from the VA in July after 29 years as she was approved for early retirement because the government was consolidating the workforce. Here almost 5 months later they haven’t paid her and have made lots of mistakes in getting her retirement finalized. Missing papers, wrong classification of retirement, penalizing her for retiring, employees who were handling the retirement being let go because of government shutdown and just incompetence, let alone they may not give her anything etc. Madisen cannot work due to medical issues and her disability hearing is Dec 9th finally after 2 years of applications and lawyers but this has only a 50/50 chance of approval with more paperwork and appeals. Im the only one working and that doesn’t begin to cover the bills. We have maxed out our cards, used all our savings, cut off all possible services except cell phones and have no other options. I only travel back and forth to work. Im not filing bankruptcy or getting another loan and go deeper in debt. We are reaching out for basic help to stay afloat and maintain our household until everything hopefully gets settled. We have all agreed to bypass any Christmas gifting as everything goes to basic bills (House, food Electric etc) I feel humbled and somewhat ashamed asking for help but If you feel led then please do so. We would greatly appreciate it. I feel the Lord will lead us through somehow but we have to also be actively seeking help , putting feet to our prayers (Im taking extra shifts at work, selling some things and the GoFundme etc) and praying daily. There are some things we did and/or paid into earlier in the year that we may have done differently or not at all had we been able to see into the future. We understand that some people may have varying opinions about our situation and what we should or shouldn’t have done. Yes we all make mistakes. Trust me that there’s more to it than anyone can imagine. Please keep any negative thoughts or opinions private as this is hard enough and we don’t need negativity. Thank you in advance. Prayers and good thoughts. Sincerely, Brian, Kim and Maddy
