Team Nick Bagwell- Stroke Recovery
Donation protected

On January 11, my 34 year old brother Nick suffered a massive stroke.
His wife, Jennifer, rushed him to the hospital after he expressed pains in his chest and head, his speech was impaired, he was groggy and disoriented. By the time they reached the hospital he had full paralysis on the left side of his body and had to be carried into the emergency room. Please people do not ignore any of these symptoms…seek medical attention immediately!! We are living proof that early diagnosis and treatment are essential.
An MRI showed one sizeable blood clot and four smaller ones on the left side of his brain. He spent 5 days at Baptist South and 4 days at UAB. With Nick’s fighting spirit, some of the best doctors and nurses, and God’s grace, he is finally at a point where he is able to return home. It is going to be a long road of recovery with the professionals saying his life may never be the same.
Before the stroke, Nick had a good job in the construction field and was the sole provider for the family and Jennifer is a stay at home mom. He will not be able to return to work any time soon (if at all) and will require 24/7 supervision until his doctors say otherwise. Nick and his family (Jennifer, Nicholas-13, Bella-5) have a long and arduous road ahead of them filled with appointments, rehabilitation and daily care.
Anyone who knows him can tell you that he is the most stubborn, strong willed, talented, hard worker that you will ever meet. He has a huge heart and is always willing to help anyone in need and would give you the shirt off his back in a second. Our hope is that he will make a full recovery from a stroke that has taken away so much of his independence. But if I know my brother then I would expect nothing less!
This is very difficult for me to ask but we do not have a choice: Please help us raise money to relieve the burden of medical and household expenses that Nick and his wife will incur as they are both unable to work due to his current condition. Our family would be eternally greatful for any donations.
I want to make it clear that Nick did not want to ask for help. He is a proud young man who feels uncomfortable about asking for any type of assistance. However, his life and the lives of those closest to him are forever altered due to this unfortunate turn of events. Lifting the financial burden would certainly help Nick to be totally focused on recovery and not have to worry or stress over finances.
Thank you in advance for your love, prayers and support, monetary or otherwise, that you are able to give. They are greatly needed and enormously appreciated!
Sincerely,
Candice Bagwell (Nick’s sister)
