Sami and Domino's Journey to NAYRC!
Donation protected
Hello,
My name is Samantha Jenney. I am 19 years old and my passion is horses and dressage riding. Dressage is an equestrian sport often defined as "the highest expression of horse training". Horse and rider combinations preform a pattern of "movements" that vary in difficulty through the different "levels". I one day hope to compete at the very top level of the sport in international competitions such as the Olympics and World Equestrian Games. The horse I am riding in the photograph is my wonderful horse Domino! Domino is a 17-hand, chestnut, Westphalian-bred gelding who has the biggest heart and sweetest personality! Domino and I have qualified to be on the Region 7 Young Rider Team. This means that we will get to compete against other teams and competitors at the North American Young Rider Championships (NAYRC) held in Kentucky this July. The United States is divided into 9 regions that all select a team of 4 horse+rider combinations. Teams from Canada and Mexico compete as well. This is my first time competing at the NAYRC, and it is an important step in my quest to be on a US equestrian team.
It is an honor to have qualified for and be able to participate in such a prestigious event. Unfortunately, competing at an international championship across the country has a high cost. I have to fly my whole team to Kentucky: myself, my coach, my support staff and Domino - yes, Domino and I are flying there via FedEx! Additionally I have to pay for hotels, supplies, local transportation and more.
Any amount you can contribute will be greatly appreciated. Wish me luck!
