A Bridge of Hope for Scott Maloney

For more than forty years, my life has been centered around serving others — as a coach, educator, mentor, father, and now through life coaching and counseling. I’ve always believed that when people feel seen, heard, and encouraged, healing can begin.

I’ve tried to live that belief quietly and consistently.

Six years ago, my life changed in ways I never expected. The end of my marriage after four decades, combined with unresolved trauma and grief, led me into the hardest season I have ever faced. During that time, I was diagnosed with PTSD, Major Depressive Disorder, Generalized Anxiety Disorder, and chronic insomnia. Healing has been real — but it has been slow, humbling, and costly.

Even in this wilderness season, I have continued to help others whenever I could. Through Hinge Life Coaching & Counseling, I’ve walked alongside people who are hurting, discouraged, or overwhelmed — often offering counseling and encouragement regardless of their ability to pay. My heart has always been to help as Christ helped: freely, compassionately, and without condition.

Right now, honesty matters.

I am actively working toward stability — applying for pastoral care and life-coaching roles and continuing to build Hinge Life as a ministry of encouragement and restoration. But financially, I am in a valley I cannot navigate alone.

Without health insurance and with limited ability to maintain full-time work while continuing recovery, I need help covering basic living expenses, food, transportation, and essential medical and mental-health costs. This season has taught me that sometimes the bravest step forward is admitting we need help.

This GoFundMe is not a rescue.
It is a bridge.

The goal of $5,000 will provide short-term stability over the next few months, allowing me to continue healing, regain my footing, and prepare for meaningful, sustainable work — while remaining available to serve others God places in my path.

Asking for help does not come easily for me. I’ve spent most of my life being the one others leaned on. But I am learning that God often provides through the compassion of His people — and that receiving help can be an act of faith, not failure.

If you feel led to support me in this season, please know that your generosity is not only meeting a financial need. It is helping sustain a calling rooted in faith, compassion, and service. It is allowing me to keep showing up for others while I continue the work God is doing in me.

Thank you for reading.
Thank you for caring.
And thank you for believing that unfinished stories still matter.
