Jessica Brown:
My son Christopher is one of the strongest, kindest, motivated young men I have ever known and I know that no matter what he does in life he will be great at it, and will always have a proud mother by his side. In short, due to Christopher's excellent athletic perfomance at a recent combine in Hawai'i, he has been invited to compete at a Super Combine in California on July 11th-12th, 2015. This is an opportunity of a lifetime. Christopher is one of only 630 students nationwide to make it to this final cut.
The downfall is that this event takes place in California and, as we live in Hawai'i, this is quite a journey for us to make and is not a cheap one. My husband and I financially support 6 minor children, and coming up with $2,500 needed to bring Christopher to California to compete is not something we are able to do on such short notice. It is heartbreaking that our son could miss out on such an important opportunity, one that could make all of his dreams come true and all of his hard work and training worth it due to the cost of this trip. So, we are asking all our family and friends to dontate to our cause, and help us make his dreams come true. Anything helps, $1, $2, $5 or $500, whatever you are able to part with will be welcomed and greatly appreciated.
What Is a Super Combine and why should you care to donate ?
A Super Combine is where elite prospects from only 32 states compete. They compete for a chance to play in the nationally televised Blue Grey All American Bowls. This Super combine also includes a Media Interview with Fox Sports, 24/7 Sports & USA Today in addition to all of their results being sent to college football recruiters for Scholarship consideration. Last year 85% of the candidates from that super combine signed football scholarships. A football scholarship would give Christopher the ability to attend college right out of high school and not be burdened with a mountain of debt to do so. Christopher has put in the hard work and performed at such an exemplary level in the last combine that he was selected as one of only 630 candidates to participate in this Super combine. Anything helps, If you can find it in your heart to part with $1, $2, $5 or $500 we would be very grateful
From my son Christopher McQuillen:
Growing up nothing I received ever came with ease. I grew up with the mentality to never take handouts. if I was going to have something it was going to be earned through hard work. I never truly believed I was capable of receiving anything close to this opportunity. Going into my senior year of high school I was very honest with myself about the chances of going to college through football and getting a scholarship to play at the collegiate level and more importantly getting a college degree. Having this opportunity, this chance, to do something for my family, myself, and my future is so surreal; what this means to me is almost indescribable.
I have woken up before 5 am every morning for months training and just trying to improve myself. When my mom first told me that I had been invited to the Blue-Grey Super Scouting Combine, it hit me that this is the opportunity that I've always dreamed of having. In that moment I was mesmerized at the fact that my dream could very well become a reality.
I don't bust my butt just for myself. I try to prioritize my family in everything I do. When I'm halfway through my workout and wanting to call it quits I take a moment to think of the people that have supported me every step of the way such as my mother my sister and step father. I work as relentlessly as I do for my mom and my family. When times were rough and I got into dark places I could always find my mom right there willing to do whatever it took to help me succeed in life. If it wasn't for my mother always there for me I could very well be 6 feet under with the way my life was taking me. All in all this is not just the opportunity of a lifetime for me. This is not only an opportunity that will make me proud of myself but also an opportunity I'd be proud to share with my mom and set up my family and future generations for success.
