Hi, my name is Coco. Twelve years ago, I moved to California with nothing but determination to build a better life. I’ve gone from being homeless to creating a stable life on my own, and now I’m just four terms away from graduating nursing school.

Becoming a nurse has been difficult but rewarding. I’ve worked tirelessly through classes and clinical rotations, fueled by the vision of working in the NICU or labor and delivery—helping newborns and families during some of life’s most precious and fragile moments.

But right now, I’ve hit a roadblock. My savings is nearly gone and my car broke down, and I rely on Uber and friends just to get to class and clinicals. Living on my own, I’m stretched thin covering basic expenses, like food and necessities while trying to stay focused on finishing strong.
