The Whedon Studies Association lost our friend, advisor, mentor, and figurative father when David Lavery died suddenly this fall, creating our very own hole in the world. The WSA will be working to honor David’s memory though a Slayage conference scholarship, but in the meantime, Middle Tennessee State University is working with David’s wife Joyce to endow in his name a graduate scholarship for television/film/popular culture students. David’s work in the classroom has contributed a great deal to the success of the WSA. Many of our members were David’s graduate students, and many of their students have now become Whedon Scholars. Please help the WSA honor David’s memory by contributing to this donation for the David Lavery Memorial Scholarship at MTSU.
