WRQ’s Wildlife rehabilitation appeal

Donation protected
We a not for profit wildlife rescue and care organization that Rescues, Rehabilitates and Releases Australian native wildlife.

Currently we are expecting animals to come into care from the fire effected zones in south east Queensland, these include animals from Bribie Island, Esk, Gold coast, Stanthorpe and Sunshine Coast respectively.

Currently in care as of 16/09/2019 WRQ has:
* 89 Possums; Which include both Ringtail and Brushtail possums.
* 112 Birds; of many different species
* 75 Macropods; Which include Swamp Wallabies, Redneck Wallabies, Whiptail Wallabies, Eastern Grey Kangaroos, Pademelons and Bettongs.
* 15 Dasyurid’s; Which include Antechinus, Phascogales and Spotted Tail Quolls.
* 140 Flying Foxes; which include Black Flying Foxes, Grey Headed Flying foxes and Little Red Flying Foxes.
* 41 Gliders; Including Sugar Gliders, Feathertail Gliders, Squirrel Gliders and Yellow Belly Gliders.
* 3 Koalas
*4 Echidnas

With more animals coming into care on a daily basis or carers are stretched financially and need as much help as we can get. Some of our current issues we experience financially are the cost of emergency rescue drugs (current bill is now over $2500). Carers are paying for all their own animal food costs, one macropod carer is spending over $1000 a month just on specialist kangaroo milk formula alone. Phone bill is also $75 month. We also have registration costs of our two trailers and ongoing costs of buying enclosures.

We are appealing to everyone and anyone for financial assistance so that we can continue to do the work that we all do so well and that is to rehabilitate and release Australian wildlife.

WRQ is not just a rescue group we actually care for these animals all the way through to release. Some other groups only rescue wildlife which is of course amazing and helpful but often WRQ are still left to care for the animals that are rescued by other groups as we have experienced specialist carers.

We are looking for community support to help us continue to rescue, rehabilitate and release our precious Australian Wildlife.
