I am Mary and I am currently a student in the George Washington University's Accelerated B.S.N. Specifically, I am one of the few members in the Veteran Specific program. I found myself in a prediciment for the rest of my tuition for Summer and Fall semester 2016 which are my last 2 semesters. I had used the remainder of my GI Bill to cover my first 2 semesters with a plan to use my husband's remaining GI Bill for the last 2. We had verified it was in fact a thing that can be done, however when he went to file for the transfer it was denied. Considering how long the VA takes to make decisions for things like this, we did not find out until halfway through my summer session and after I was able to enroll in Fall. It was a pretty bad set-back. I missed the deadline to apply for a payment program through the company the school contracts through. I have maxed out Federal financial aid, grants and what scholarships I was able to get. My father tried co-signing about 15ish private loans for me with no luck. This has been a headache and something I have been trying to fix since about July. I just received a letter from the school stating my account will be going to collections soon if I do not pay in full. I graduate next month and as it stands while I still owe money I am not eligible for my degree nor will I be able to take my NCLEX to receive the nursing license I have been working so hard for. I tried to set up a private payment plan where I was told they stopped allowing that due to student abuse so I now find myself a month from graduation with a crazy bill and no way of paying it. If it does go to collections, my degree is basically null until I can pay it off in full with about 30% interest added on and a limitation of 2 years for my NCLEX. I am desperate for any help I can get and at the suggestion of many friends here I am groveling for help...
Some more fun facts about me: I am currently a paramedic with an associates in Emergency Medical Services -Paramedic as well as an associates in Biology that I completed at the same time with a 3.8 GPA. I am a crazy person in that I am currently working full time as an Paramedic in a trauma center while attending this accelerated program (lots o' sleepless nights for this girl!) And my proudest accomplishment is that I am married to my best friend and I am the mother of 3 pretty awesome (if I do say so myself) children as well as expecting #4 :) My goal in nursing is to work with teenage mothers as I was 15 when I had my oldest. I love working with people and I particularily love children and teenagers. I am most excited to serve as a role model and mentor to other adolescent girls and boys. I am currently in my last semester of 4 and as of yet I have a 3.6 GPA.
I am very grateful for any and all assistance to help me complete my dream of nursing, women baby care and mentoring. If I can answer any other questions I am happy too!
Thank you so very much for your consideration :)
