Jack Sagin is 74 years old, he will be 75 in October, 2020. He got out of prison four days before his 74th birthday after having served 34 years wrongfully incarcerated in California. He feels young for his age, but sadly he went blind in one eye in prison and has limited vision in the other. This doesn't stop him from working out daily and going on long walks, but it does limit his ability to get around because driving is unlikely. He was fortunate to have been able to live with his sister and her husband since his release but is in need of a more permanent place to live now. He is a brother, father, and grandfather and hopes to stay in Arizona to stay near his family. Due to his age and limited sight Jack is unable to work, so he is living off $522/month from social security. Unfortunately, Jack's housing accommodation has now run out and he is on the brink of homelessness, as of the end of July. Like the vast majority of exonerees, he has not been compensated for his wrongful conviction and continues the legal battles to seek compensation. Any financial support would go a long way for helping Jack to secure and maintain safe and stable housing and provide him the assistance needed to help him rebuild the life that was taken from him by the State.
