My name is Patricia Fleming. I am the mother of a young man who was incarcerated on Riker's Island for 6 years without a trial and died a few days after he was released. While he was at Riker's Island, my son, Patrick, was physically assaulted on multiple occasions by correction officers and developed testicular cancer. He continued to be treated horribly even after he was diagnosed with cancer and eventually, he was released just a few days before his untimely death at the age of 27. My heart still breaks when I think of what happened to my son, Patrick. This Fund is to help pay for expenses necessary to get justice, in particular for reports from medical experts. My lawyer has been fighting the City of New York and the medical defendants for years without any compensation and we need help with expenses to make sure we can bring the City and the other defendants to justice. Nothing will bring back my beloved son, but if we can bring the City to account, maybe we can prevent similar abuse to other inmates in the future. My lawyer has been

fighting for justice for me and the memory of my son for years without any compensation. He never gave up the fight. The Fund is for expenses for medical experts and reports, we need help with expenses to make sure we can bring the City and other defendants to justice. If I can build this fund I would like to have a Wrongful Death Fund in Memory of my baby, my son. The money would help people with burial maybe somebody may need an expense like medical expert witnesses or other expenses to help a family in need and help to give back.
